Pies & Plates

Looking for some refuge from the impending storm as Andrea came ashore, we ducked into Pies & Plates in Punta Gorda.  Man, what an impressive place!  They have a full gourmet cooking supply store, a cafe, a bakery and a side kitchen for cooking classes.

I was really impressed with the amount of cooking gadgets - plus they have exotic vinegars and other supplies that I like to keep in my home kitchen.  Now I've located my shop for fun fancy ingredients.

A Cornucopia of Awards
Walking over to the cafe side, I was awestruck by the number of awards on display.  By my count there were 36 awards on display (Thirty-Six!), although it was hard to get an exact number as they ran down the long counter, across to the side shelves and onto the floor.

Looking over the menu, we picked some comfort food for a rainy afternoon.  We ordered tomato soup, grilled cheese, turkey club sandwich, iced tea and a Coca-Cola.
